My name is Annemarie Davelaar. I am from The Netherlands, but I am living in Beijing at the moment. After my study Chinese in Maastricht in 2004 I got a scholarship offered at People's University of China in Beijing and ever since I live here. Now I wrok at Yew Chung International School of Beijing.
I started playing the flute at the age of 12 and played in a couple of orchestras, the royal orchastra St. Jospeph in Oldenzaal and the royal orchestra of Maastricht 1825 in Maastricht are two of them. Here I am part of the worship team of BICF (Beijing International Christian Fellowship) and I play at least once a month.
To be involved with this foundation was something I have been looking for. I was looking for a way to serve which is easy in this country. You can easily go to orphanages and play with the children or help wherever needed, but that was not what I was looking for. I wanted to serve and use the gifts I have. Music is also a good way for the children to cope with live and especially the live they are living.
